It's in my blood. As a former military officer, I was required to provide personal information, and denied certain citizens rights to avoid a conflict with the mission. In requesting full disclosure of the positions, equipment and budget of the Sheriff's Department, my campaign was required to use the full action of FOIA. We were billed $46.00 for the information. As a private business owner, I find it hard to understand where the city incurred this cost. However my greatest concern is the lack of openness with the public that this represents. As Sheriff of Suffolk, I promise to treat all citizens fairly and equally.
