So I drove past Casey Cycle City yesterday to see if there were any Can-Am Spyders outisde. They had one silver one among the ATVs and other off-road vehicles on their lot. Having seen the silver in person, I would definitely go for the red. I suppose there is some merit to yellow other than the “look at me” factor: it’s bound to catch the eye of drivers around you, and having them aware of you is probably a good thing.
I might still test drive the thing someday, but I don’t think I’ll ever own one. Unless I have disposable income. (t’yah) I saw an article about gas prices and scooter sales today, so decided to look up the gas mileage on the Spyder. Take a guess.
….and the winning numbers are: 25 to 30 mpg. Yup, that’s it. Talk about a disappointment! My Geo currently gets 30+ mpg on my commute, which is 99% highway. And since the gas tank is smaller on the Spyder, It gets only a little more than half the range on a full tank compared to my little car.
Bummer.
