This story made me giggle, especially the comments after it.
Three horses wandered onto Interstate 64 this morning and caused a nagging backup at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. ….
Alert motorists spotted the horses about 5:45 a.m. and started to slow down or stop, Robinson said. About the same time, employees in the tunnel’s control room also saw the animals and decided to stop traffic.
Virginia State Police troopers rounded up the horses, which were taken to a garage at the tunnel until animal control officers could arrive, Robinson said. ….
The horses belong to Hampton University and officials there released a statement this afternoon saying they are investigating how the horses got out of a corral on a farm owned by the school.
Some of the comments:
horses sighted by eagle-eyed commuters
The story reads that “alert motorists” reported horses walking down the Interstate. Lord, please save us from those muddled motorists that weren’t alert enough to see horses on the highway!!How about this one?

Just let me ’sit in the saddle for a while…I’ll think of something to write!

Those horses sure did ’stir-up’ the locals!

Well, Heidi, your invitation for more comments could stirrup some interesting results–once I quit laughing myself hoarse!
My mane problem is not in getting started, but rather to avoid galloping through the subject at too rapid a gait. Did the horses jump a fence? Perhaps they are just working on their next exhibition. Or did they just trot over to the tunnel? They must have had some pull just to get out.
If they were hitched together, then it was a troika, which brings back memories of the cold war, when the reign in Russia was a shared responsibility.
I wonder about the reaction of the first state trooper, whinny caught up with the runaways. Therein lies a tail. Or what about the motorists who heard thundering hoof beats and wondered.
And how did they get them back home? Were they led, or trucked? Probably some people from Hampton Road them.
Is that enough for a first place finish? Or did Feitlebaum win again?

Can’t resist a bit more…
Me and my Pardner are back in the saddle again, trying to get to the church on time. Looks like we’ll have a steeple chase down the bridle trail. Just enough time to corral one more thought: If they want to keep those horses from traveling again, just tie them to a gallop pole! Sorry, didn’t mean to nag. Looks like I’m out of ideas. Whoa is me, now I’m having nightmares!
