And so my last week at my current job is drawing to a close. Because it is summer and many employees are using flextime to take Fridays off, my supervisor has organized a cake and punch gathering this afternoon for people on campus to stop by and say farewell.
Tomorrow is a jeans day as most people on our floor will not be here. Okay, for me, it’s pretty much been jeans for the last 2 weeks. 
But tomorrow will be exceptionally laid back. I have 3 projects left to wrap up, and then try to somehow download my brain onto paper for my supervisor.
Then tomorrow night is the more usual eat-out farewell party. Our parties tend to be causes for celebration — much telling of new and old stories, and laughter all around. I asked to have it after work in the hopes that some ex-co-workers will be able to drop in, and also because I suspect that several people (especially my supervisor) will want to kick back with some Coronas and not have to worry about going back to the office.
I don’t know yet how my new job will affect my blogging schedule. What, I had a schedule? No, not really, but I have tended to send updates during my lunch hour as opposed to writing from home. So far, it looks like my new job will be quite busy. I have an all-day new associate orientation on Monday. I found out this week that I am supposed to call a Communications associate in the Canada division on Tuesday to get up to speed on their end, and that a meeting has been scheduled on Wednesday so I can learn about the mass email system. Oh, and I’m also tentatively scheduled for another call Tuesday morning to be trained on the intranet. And, I’ve been forwarded an invitation for a Ladies Night Out Fondue Party on Wednesday evening. Talk about hitting the ground running!
I only have a few essential items left to buy for my new wardrobe, namely things like knee-highs and trouser socks. Happily, I just got a Kohl’s “extra 15% off” coupon in the mail, so that’s where I will go this weekend.
