So it turns out it was a good thing that the photographer stood me up today. Instead of getting my head shaved very close by him, I got a nice buzz cut and fun banter with two women at Hair Cuttery. [photo disclaimer: the white balance wasn't great, so the photos are only so-so]
For several weeks now, I’ve been imagining what my hair would look and feel like with a buzz like this. It’s pretty much how I envisioned it, but I didn’t realize how much I would like it! I plan on letting my hair grow to see at what length I like it (and to see how it grows in again).
The receptionist (who also did most of the cutting) told me that my head might itch a lot with such a short cut. She said hers did. The other stylist, Miss Triss, said she buzzed her head once years ago and it didn’t itch. My head seems to be okay so far, except my ears burned a little because they were kind of yanked about to buzz around them.
When I stepped out of the salon, a breeze flew around me, and it felt like all my hair was standing on end. I’ve never felt the breeze over all my scalp before.
I washed my head when I got home to get all the little pepper-like clippings out. It was really odd to shake my head and have no water-weight. As I was rubbing my head over the sink, I kept feeling a spray like the running water was splattering… but it was my hair. I splattered water all over the mirror. Oops! heheheh….
As I’ve been sitting here cropping photos, I noticed my neck stiffening. Without any hair around my face and neck, I think my muscles are fooled into thinking that I must have it all up in a pony tail, which is usually quite a counterweight on the back of my skull.
Tomorrow I will take follow-up photos. Right now it’s time to see what this new hair feels like on a pillow!

Wowsa! That is quite a change. Now you need to take a photo every week and stitch it into a movie… your hair growing out.

Great idea! I already have chalk marks on my sidewalk where I placed my tripod, so I can set it up in the same place each time.
