“And now for something completely different!”
A few weeks ago, I fulfilled the hoop-jumping requirements to earn a “free” 32″ LCD TV, and with my voucher all filled out and mailed in, I have been waiting for it to arrive. Every night I go home hoping to see a UPS slip on my door telling me that I have a delivery.
Instead, I received a letter from the incentive company. But this is actually a good thing. The letter apologized because the TV I chose as my incentive was no longer available, so in its place they sent a check for the retail price of the TV.
Woohoo!
I was going to sell the TV anyway (after opening it to touch and smell it, so enjoy owning a big LCD TV for just 5 minutes…), and I know I wouldn’t have gotten the retail price on eBay or a classified ad, even though it would have been new. So now I have a nice sum of roughly $1,230 to padd my bank account.
Score!
Okay, realistically, I’m going to put a large chunk of that in savings for future car repairs or airfare to visit the folks. But at least I can consider my iPod completely paid for, and maybe get a couple of designer-y books that have been on my Amazon wishlist for a while.
